Jason Kelce scolded his little brother Travis over his blowup with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid at Super Bowl LVIII.

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of their “New Heights” podcast, the Eagles center told the Chiefs tight end that he went too far by screaming at and bumping his long-time coach as tensions ran high on the sideline.

“You crossed the line,” Jason told his brother. “The yelling in his face, too, was over the top. I think there are better ways to handle this, retrospectively.”

Travis lost his cool in the second quarter after being off the field on a play where Isiah Pacheco fumbled and the 49ers recovered.

He agreed that he went too far.

“I can’t get that fired up to the point where I’m bumping coach and getting him off balance,” Travis said. “When he stumbled, I was just like, ‘Oh s–-t’ in my head.”

The altercation saw Travis raise his voice at Reid, before bumping him with enough force to make him stumble. Running back Jerick McKinnon quickly grabbed Kelce and pulled him away.

Kelce was upset as he came off the field after a 52-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman set the Chiefs up at the 49ers’ 9-yard line.

His backup, Noah Gray, failed to hold a block on that play, which led to 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir knocking the ball loose from Pacheco.

Jason and Travis both discussed emotions running high on the field. Explaining that he’s a “passionate guy,” Travis, a three-time Super Bowl champ, was apologetic over letting his emotions get the best of him.

“I love Coach Reid,” he said. “Coach Reid knows how much I love to play for him, and how much I love to be the product of his coaching career. I’m not playing for anybody else but Big Red. If he calls it quits this year, I’m out there with him.

“I’ve got a certain relationship with him. He’s checked me a few times, and just wanted to let him know that I wanted this thing and he could put it on me and that I got him.”

Travis said the heated exchange “came at a moment where we weren’t playing very well, I wasn’t playing very well,” adding the team “had to get some s–-t going.”

“Sometimes those emotions just get away from me, man. That’s been the battle of my career,” he said.

Still, the tight end noted that he doesn’t “give a s-–t what anybody else” other than Reid says about the blowup.

“I talked to Coach Reid about it today and we kind of chuckled about it, and I couldn’t be more proud of where we’ve come as a team since I got here in 2013,” he said. “I just love playing for the guy. Unfortunately, sometimes my passion comes out where it looks like it’s negativity, but I’m grateful that he knows it.”

After the sideline bump, Reid called a personnel package that did not include Kelce on the next play.

“It was pleading with your head coach to let you go out there and win this s–-t, me and you both know what that is,” Jason said.

“Big Red, sorry if I caught you with that cheap shot, baby,” said Travis, who is famously Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.

“As much as he bumps into me, I bump into him,” Reid said. “He caught me off balance.”
